Monitoring a number of sources I have found the following tendency:
Several large corporations such as Boeing and General Electric came to conclusion that advantages of using cheap labor outside the country are offset by increasing cost of freight and materials. Lower production cost leads to other types of expenses, for example, those associated with lower product quality and service availability (I mentioned that a year ago on one of my resources ). W. James McNerney, Boeing CEO, has admitted that the significance of local workers was underestimated. Jeff Immelt, General Electric CEO, supported this opinion as well. He also added that these processes apply not only to heavy duty industry, but to instrumentation and software development too.
